Sunday September 21, 2003

It has been a whole week since I have been on the computer. I was on vacation again this week, and decided to take a break from the hectic life of technology. Although I have to admit, I did use my email once to receive a very important bit of information... I will fill you in later. Well, Elizabeth needs the laptop, so I will enter more info in the next day or so. Later.

The baptism ceremony went very well, Zoey only cried when the water hit her face. [she was a little fussy because she was hungry, but so was I : ) ] Afterwards we went back to Barb and Dave's house for the celebration diner. Lots of food! I ended up getting 3 hours sleep last night and had to work a 14 hour shift. I am very tired. I will post the pictures from the event this week. Z looked adorable in her Baptism gown. I will let you know when the pictures are posted.

Today I became a godfather. I have been thinking about the awesome responsibility of raising a child in our world today, and realized that parents can use and need all of the help and support they can get. Thus the role of the godparents is not as small as I had previously thought. I hope to play an important role in her life. With the right guidance and support I know she will grow up to be a wonderful person. I know some of you might wonder why some one who is not catholic would agree to be a godparent. I feel that anyone who believes in our Lord Jesus Christ and follows what the Bible teaches is a Christian. It does not matter what other "label" you place on their religion. The role of a godparent is to make sure the child is brought up knowing and exposed to God, Jesus, and taught about and from the Bible.

I had my Third and final interview today. It went very well. I very anxious now as I will have to wait 1 to 2 weeks until the final decision is made.

Thursday September 11, 2003

Let us not forget! Think of all the unsaved people who perished this day. Did you know anyone who died in the towers, or on the planes? Could you have made a difference in their life? Think about these questions as you go through your day. This could be the last day you ever get to talk to someone close to you or work with. Make it count. Show God's love... never forget.

Well, I just had my second interview for the Level III support position at Lubrizol. I think it went fairly well. I had it fairly easy as I already knew the people giving the interviews. Not that they took it easy on me, but I was very comfortable being interviewed by them. I have my third and final interview this Friday. I got a new home theater system. Check out the components. Cinema series Projection TV - JBL 5.1 Speaker system - Progressive scan DVD audio/video/MP3/jpeg/WMA/HighMAT player Lets just say watching movies is really great now! The speakers sound unbelievable and the TV is beyond words when playing a DVD!

It has been a long week. I am out of town still. Working nights is so much fun! I just implemented a new Journal format. It allows me to dynamically update via an excel front end interface. I hope this works… if not, you will not see this. I added the rest of the pictures - for those of you who looked at the first batch - there are twice as many now. Hope you enjoy them.

Monday August 25, 2003 We just got back from our Disney trip! It was wonderful. Elizabeth and I had a really good time. I posted the pictures and a few vid's on our picture page. Take a look! I am really tired, so I will update with more info later.

Not much to report today. We are moving some furniture we inherited from my wife's family. (well, I am not moving, friends and family are - because of the car accident from 2 years ago, I can not move anything heavy) I get stuck with preparation. yeah! Can you feel my joy? Well, I added my friend Chucks' website to my links page. Check it out. Not much else to report. Have a great weekend. Jim

I know… it has been a long time since I have updated my journal once again. As always, I have been very busy. I have finally completed the Citrix server, and it is fully operational. My next project will be to get the Citrix Meta frame XP web access working. I will let you know how that goes. I have moved the main website to the 650MHz machine, so you should notice a little better response time to the active pages, and have moved tow servers to a different switch path. I am still having a problem with the NAV live update server hitting one of the VLAN’s properly. I will have to look at that issue later. I still have not tried my new DVD burner. I have installed it and loaded the apps, but I have not physically tried it yet. Soon, I promise! I have also just received a Zoom MRS-4, 4 track digital recording studio. I love it! I will post some songs I created using it in the near future. I still have a lot to learn on its features and capabilities. I also just got a new cell phone. It is an LG VX4400 dual LCD with inside color and polyphonic midi ringer. There is not much this phone does not do. I am not sure I told anyone yet, but I also just got a new Yamaha portable grand DGX500. It is really nice. It includes a floppy drive and a 5 track sequencer. Did I mention it is a full 88 keys? I have to go. Hope all is well for you.

Saturday June 14, 2003

I finally got a DVD burner! I am completing a fresh build of my media PC and installing the burner tonight. I will let you know how it goes. I also finally got Citrix. I will finish building that server tomorrow. I will try to get the office products to work first. Then I will see if I can get some non-MS apps to work. I hope all is well with everyone. Have a great weekend! Jim

Thursday June 12, 2003

I apologize for not having any recent entries. Unfortunately the past couple of weeks have been very hectic. My friend Mike suggested I move to a different style of journal. One where visitors can respond to my entries. I will be looking into a few apps that support that soon. Thanks for the input Mike! I will try to enter a more detailed entry this weekend. Have a great day! Jim

I have not gotten very much done this week and I am not sure where the time went. My uncle just celebrated his 92nd birthday! We had a little party for him last night. He is recovering from a massive heart attack. He had it almost three weeks ago, is now home and doing as well as can be expected. I did get a little more work done in the data center. I put together a shelf unit that now holds my servers and other pc's. It also has a top section that holds the routers, switches and the hub. I am still trying to set it all up so that the cables are not everywhere. I will put up some pictures soon I promise! I also got a little present from the UPS guy today. My two new cases and the new PSU. The cases both came with 500watt power supplies, and I also ordered a 400watt to put in my extra case. Now all I need is the Citrix and VPN software. Well, I had better go. L8tr

Monday May 26, 2003

It is Monday morning, 12:45AM and I am really tired. I only have 5 hours and 15 minutes left until I can go home! It has been a long week On the bright side of things, I did get the new web site theme completed. I made everything (except the two media icons) from scratch. I have to admit it I did go a little overboard with the tables. Everything is in a table, including these journal entries. Oh well, at least it looks half way decent.

My cousin Meredith is getting married today. My wife is coming up to see me! (well, actually to go to the wedding) when I work this horrid schedule, I do not get to see my wife that much, so it is really nice to have a chance to see her. I made a couple of changes to the web site. I made it so you can not right click to copy or save files from the media pages. I also did this one. Go ahead, try it. ;) Told you so... Well, I do not have too much to say right now, so I will catch you later.

May 24, 2003

As you can see, I have put a little more time into the website. For the past week I have been working the night shift. Seven, twelve hour days in a row. UGH! Not the most fun schedule to work. Anyway, I have taken the time to set up a web folder for me to update the site while I am at work. It works fairly well. I also just ordered two more server cases with 500watt power supplies for my new servers. I know, I already have 4, but I am expanding the data center and needed some more horse power to run some of the new apps. I will be adding a Citrix metaframe server and I will try to build a new QuickTime streaming server this summer. I find that Apple has a better streaming content server than MS. Until then, I will be using the WMV/WMA streaming setup. If you have not checked it out yet, go to my page and select the media link. You will need a user name and password to get in. email and I will set up an account for you.
Later,
Jim
